Hidden behind an entirely restructured 18th century facade of yellow, amber, and red, the Bairro Alto is a luxury Hotel recently opened in the fashionable district from which it takes its name, the Bairro Alto in Lisbon. Perched in the city's top retail district, this deluxe boutique is ideally located for both business and leisure travellers. Equipped with the latest hi-tech features, its 55 rooms, with a modern-classic Portuguese decor, feature original dark wood furniture exclusively designed for the hotel, as well as raspberry blue and straw yellow coloured walls.

A rooftop terrace and fitness centre which provides a dramatic view over the Tagus River and the rooftops of Lisbon, and a sleek nouvelle Portuguese restaurant with inspired innovative Gastronomy are the perfect complements for an unforgettable stay.

ACCOMMODATION

The design of the 55 rooms and suites has a contemporary approach of classic Portuguese style with the latest hi-tech features (wi-fi Internet access, etc). The attic rooms are on the 5th floor & have their own décor scheme. The rest have the traditional Portuguese colour scheme as their base: yellow – symbolic of the Portuguese tram, ivory white – reflecting the Lioz stone of the Portuguese pavement, blue for the tagus river and a terracotta red symbolising Lisbon’s ceramic roof tiles. All rooms have Brazilian wood flooring, while the walls are finished with painted wood paneling in the corresponding colour.

The seven Mansard loft rooms are wall papered and have a descending roof. The single rooms all face the Luis deCamoes square. The privacy & silence of the superior rooms guests may enjoy views of either the Luis de Camoes square or the Rua do Alecrim, a lively street with view onto the Tagus river.

The Deluxe rooms are situated on the corners and all enjoy views onto the Luis de Camoes Square and the Rua das Flores, also has views of the Tagus River. The Prestige rooms face the Rua das Flores. The bathrooms have old bathtubs and separate showers.

The Suites are located on the corners of the building and have big windowswith views onto the Luis de Camoes Square and the Rua do Alecrim.

FOOD AND DINING

The Flores Restaurant is situated on the ground floor & is open for lunch & dinner. The contemporary cuisine is a fusion of typical Portuguese with Mediterranean. Accessible from the hotel lobby or from the street, the Café Bar comprises three ambiences situated on three different levels – the central bar on the street level, the Igloo Lounge on the lower level, and as the name suggests, the Mezzanine on an interim level of the central bar.

The two lower floors form the main bar area where cocktails and light meals are served and guest DJs give live performances. A varied musical agenda including classical, ethnic and lounge livens the nights at the Café Bar making it the ‘in’ place of the Bairro Alto nightlife. The Igloo lounge may also be used as a private screening room or for private parties of approximately 25 persons. Partitioned by a glass wall, The Mezzanine, with its fireplace, books and newspapers offers a relaxed, quieter space like an interior terrace.

Situated on the top floor, the Terrace offers an idyllic place to read, linger or appreciate a panoramic view of Lisbon. Light meals and sandwiches are served; great place for a midday break.

FACILITIES

Include a private boardroom, a panoramic terrace overlooking the Tagus River for special events and fitness center with massage. Other services include underground parking, room service and concierge, personal shopper, laundry and dry cleaning, baby-sitting, boutique, newspaper delivery, limousine and rent-a-car desks.

ACTIVITIES

The hotel is situated in a truly privileged position in Bairro Alto (which literally means ‘upper quarter’) one of the oldest areas of Lisbon and the centre of the arts district, where Lisbon's culture lives and thrives.

Since time began, this vibrant district has been the home of intellectuals and artists. It lives on today as the centre of Culture, Art, Fashion and Design, indeed, many up-market brands value their location in the Bairro Alto.
